Welcome to Vanto. Vanto is a personal media management and playback tool provided by independent developer Mac Zhou for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac.

These terms supplement the Apple Standard End User License Agreement (the “Apple Standard EULA”) that applies to Vanto as distributed by Apple. The software license remains governed by the Apple Standard EULA; these terms principally describe Vanto’s service nature, user content, third-party services, and Vanto Pro. If these terms conflict with mandatory applicable law or mandatory provisions of the Apple Standard EULA, those provisions control.

1. Nature of the service

Vanto is a media player and personal media-library client. It does not provide, host, sell, or distribute movies, television programs, live channels, subtitles, or other media content, and it does not operate a cloud media server that receives your media files.

You may use Vanto to browse and play local files or connect services you configure, including Emby, Jellyfin, Plex, SMB, WebDAV, SFTP, and other supported services. Vanto is not affiliated with, acting for, or endorsed by those third parties unless expressly stated.

2. Your media and lawful use

You are responsible for the content you add, access, play, download, cache, or share, and for ensuring that you have ownership, a license, or other lawful authority to do so. You must not use Vanto to infringe copyright, privacy, publicity, trademark, or other rights, or to circumvent access controls, digital rights management, payment restrictions, or applicable law.

Vanto’s downloading, offline playback, screenshot sharing, subtitle, and metadata features are intended only for content you are authorized to handle. Vanto does not verify whether a media source is lawful, and providing general playback or connection capabilities does not acquire or grant any content rights.

3. Third-party sources and services

Vanto relies on servers, NAS devices, network protocols, metadata services, subtitle services, and Apple system services that you choose to configure. Your accounts, subscriptions, licenses, content, availability, rate limits, and data relationship with those services are governed by their respective terms.

Third-party services may change interfaces, stop operating, reject requests, restrict regions or accounts, or return inaccurate, incomplete, or incompatible data. Vanto will make reasonable efforts to maintain compatibility but does not guarantee continued availability of any third-party service, server, or protocol and is not responsible for their content, conduct, security, or policies.

4. Metadata, artwork, and subtitles

Titles, descriptions, cast information, artwork, ratings, subtitles, and other display facts may come from media files, NFO files, servers you configure, or third-party providers. Vanto seeks to avoid incorrect matches but cannot guarantee that such information is always accurate, complete, or suitable for every region or age.

Text, images, trademarks, and data remain the property of their respective rights holders. You must follow applicable provider licenses and attribution requirements and must not use Vanto’s matching, caching, or display capabilities for unauthorized redistribution.

5. Local files, downloads, and backups

Removing a source, cache, download, or app-managed imported copy may permanently remove data. Uninstalling the app, system cleanup, device damage, or third-party service changes may also make local content, offline files, or sync state unavailable. Keep your own backups of important media and configuration.

Vanto does not delete original files from externally authorized folders. Deletion capabilities apply only to app-managed imported copies or downloaded files. Confirm the target content and available device storage before acting.

6. Vanto Pro, purchases, and Family Sharing

Vanto Pro is offered through Apple StoreKit as an annual subscription and a lifetime purchase. The price, currency, taxes, subscription period, trial eligibility, renewal date, and refund rules shown by the App Store at purchase time control. Vanto does not directly process payment accounts or card information.

The annual subscription renews for the period shown by Apple unless canceled through your Apple Account settings before the current period ends. Purchase restoration, refunds, billing disputes, and subscription management are handled under Apple’s applicable rules.

Eligible Family Sharing purchases share only the Vanto Pro feature entitlement. They do not share media sources, accounts, credentials, playback history, favorites, downloads, settings, or an Access Lock PIN. Expiration does not proactively delete local data, but restricted features may stop creating new tasks or switching to additional sources.

7. Technical compatibility and playback results

Playback depends on the device model, operating system, display, audio route, network, server, container, codec, subtitle format, HDR or Dolby metadata, and third-party implementations. A recognized file may still fail, transcode, fall back to a lower-capability output, produce color or loudness differences, show subtitle timing differences, buffer, or encounter performance limits.

Vanto will continue to improve compatibility but does not promise that every combination will match the output of a particular player, television, sound system, or server client, or that metadata, sync, downloads, and remote connections will never be interrupted. Verify your device and source configuration before important playback.

8. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

9. Updates, availability, and termination

Vanto may adjust features, supported capabilities, and minimum system requirements for security, compatibility, legal compliance, or product improvement. Material changes to these terms will be published here with an updated date; additional notice or consent will be used where required by law.

If you materially violate these terms, the Apple Standard EULA, or applicable law, Vanto may limit relevant functionality where permitted. You may stop using and uninstall Vanto at any time. Back up data you want to keep before uninstalling.

10. Warranties and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Vanto is provided “as is” and “as available.” Except for warranties that cannot lawfully be excluded, Vanto does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, complete compatibility, freedom from data loss, accurate metadata, or continued availability of third-party services.

Loss resulting from third-party content or services, unauthorized media use, network or device failure, data loss, configuration errors, or events outside Vanto’s reasonable control remains the responsibility of the legally responsible party. Nothing in these terms limits mandatory consumer rights.
